Leading the Pack at the Australia Day Ferrython

Captain Pat's joining the 2014 Australia Day Ferrython (Jan. 26) is the closest I'm likely to ever be in anything close to the America's Cup.  It was quite exhilarating!

As you can see from the photos below we were ahead of most of the other boats on the Sydney Harbour and keeping pace with the Sydney Ferries in a race from Sydney Harbour, around Shark Island and then racing to the finish line under the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The best part was looking driving ahead of the "Back of the Pack" with the panoramic view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the city skyline.

As you can see from the waves, all of the boats are speeding along ... behind us!


The ferries are sponsored, this one clearly is sponsored by China Southern Airlines. This is one of the instances it's fine to have a plane on the harbour.
